I talked to the recruiter, he asked a few questions related to my background, and informed me that they were handing out take home assignments to every potential candidate so I should monitor my mailbox for that email. Anyway, the next day I received an email from the same recruiter that he really enjoyed the conversation, but we've decided to move forward with other candidates. I was shocked because I was supposed to get a take home assignment based on my previous conversation with him. I was just dumbfounded on the sudden change of heart, and wondered if it was an implicit bias that lead to an early decision or something else. Nevertheless, I was able to connect with other individuals on LinkedIn who applied to the same position, and they told me that there was NO take home assignment given to them at all, and it surprised them that the word "assignment" was even used in the conversation between me and the recruiter.
