I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Vulcan Materials in Jun 2014
Interview
The hiring process was very straightforward. Sat for an interview with several sales managers and a HR representative. The tone of the interview was pleasant and not overly intense. Really like the company and would love to work there. Of course preference is given to internal candidates so I didn't get this position. They did indicate that there may be possibilities in the future and that they would be interested in talking with me further.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I don't have experience in aggregates and the interviewers were aware of this so there were no technical questions. The technical aspects can be learned, but they look for quality individuals with integrity and people skills. The questions that I was asked were fairly typical and nothing was really outside of the norm.

Interview
Long process, but was very professional. There were periods when i believed they decided to go with a different candidate and then my phone would ring for another interview. Throughout the process, it was fairly informal and interview process was more of a conversation.

Interview
Was very positive, but very strung out. They do a very reflective discussion on candidates it would seem. Low pressure, but thought out questions.
They will let you spell out your thoughts and to be reflective. Take your time during the interview process. My "in person" interviews were all at a restaurant, so be prepared for that. I never was able to really eat. No doubt part of this process was to see if I was "house broken".

Interview
Conducted first brief phone interview. This interview was just to get the basics of my interest in Vulcan Materials and what Vulcan has to offer. The interview was 10-15 minutes long and the result was forwarded to management for a future interview face to face.
