Vision: To enhance the enjoyment and function of food by producing real sugar in the most technologically advanced and socially responsible manner.
Description The Amalgamated Sugar Company turns beets into sweets. As a top US sugar producer, it processes sugar beets grown on about 180,000 acres in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. The company manufactures granulated, coarse, powdered, and brown consumer sugar products marketed under the brand name White Satin. It also provides private-label products for retail grocery chains. In addition, Amalgamated Sugar produces beet pulp, molasses, and other beet byproducts for use by food and animal-feed manufacturers. The company's roots reach back to 1915. Since 1997 Amalgamated Sugar has been owned by the Snake River Sugar Company, a cooperative composed of sugar beet growers in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.
