Greene County, Missouri is located in the southwest corner of the Ozark Mountains. It is comprised of 678 square miles, which includes Springfield and eight suburban towns. Primarily a service oriented community, the medical field is its largest employer. Located 40 miles from Branson, tourism has contributed greatly to the area’s economy. Greene County is a statutory first class non-chartered county. The county’s governing body is the Greene County commission and has thirteen elected officials.
