Good salary and benefits, good retirement plans

Cons

Being a government bureaucracy, it is a completely political environment. Politicians and the people who work for them are not your friends. You don't have any friends, just politicians and bureaucracy. You go in with a sense of duty and public purpose, and you get your soul sucked out by neverending pressure and just really horrible people. Don't trust anyone. The good salary/benefits and retirement plans aren't worth it. Save yourself. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Pros

Coworkers are generally nice, benefits are okay but not amazing, really good retirement

Cons

Corruption at every level, especially the Commissioners. Middle management is incompetent and only meant to serve political purposes. Multiple employees and managers caught drinking on the job or disappearing for hours on end with no repercussions. Very unwelcoming to the LGBT community. Absolutely no room for advancement.
