Description Lane County is geographically situated on the west side of Oregon, midway down the state’s coastline. Its 4,620 square miles encompass great natural beauty, ranging from the spectacular Oregon coast to the snow-capped peaks of the Cascade Mountains.
In between is the lush Willamette Valley, flanked on both sides by towering forests. The bustling Eugene-Springfield metropolitan area provides a thriving urban center for residents and visitors alike, and small towns and rural communities across the county offer home-town charm and amenities away from the city lights.

4,620 square miles, spanning from the Pacific Ocean to the Cascade Mountains. Lane County is larger than Delaware and Rhode Island combined and almost the size of Connecticut. Although 90% percent of Lane County is forestland, it is Oregon's 4th most populous county and the cities of Eugene and Springfield comprise the 3rd largest metropolitan area in the state.
