In 1981, a small team with Sir Robert McAlpine began engineering innovative wind turbines. In its early years, RES delved into wind energy, exploring designs for commercial wind turbines. Their pioneering spirit led to the construction of their first wind farm at Carland Cross in 1992, and a groundbreaking moment in 1998 when they installed the UK's first commercial 1MW wind turbine.
Over the last 40 years, the company has expanded to 4500 employees, working in 23 countries and offering state-of-the-art renewable technologies in wind, solar, transmission and distribution, energy storage, digital solutions, o&m services and green hydrogen.
