Pros

It most certainly beats getting up in the morning and not having a place to go to work to (maybe).

Cons

Changes are happening - you decide if the changes are for the better of for the worse. Just using ordering P.O.P. Signage for a store as an example: Old Way: Field Consultant would sent a request to the Market P.O.P. Coordinator, who would then place the order. New Way: Field Consultant creates an online case which is sent to Dallas. Dallas then sends the request to the Market Manager for approval (by the way, the Market Manager is the Field Consultant's Immediate Supervisor). The Market Manager then forwards the request to the Zone Manager for approval ("Zone Manager" is essentially a position that was formerly held by a Divisional Vice President). The Zone Manager forwards the request to the Senior Vice President for approval (there are two Senior Vice Presidents; one covering the Eastern US; the other covering the Western US). The Senior Vice President then sends the request back to Dallas, and the order gets placed. It is very scary to know that a Senior Vice President (who is responsible for 3,000+ stores) has to approve a request for a Slurpee Sign!

Pros

Great retail system but still way behind in technology. Job in this economy is ok but no future to grow.

Cons

always a different technique to keep you down, no appreciation for work done. Retailer intiative is a joke. Store cleanliness a weapon to get you out.

Pros

Paychecks come regularly and on schedule. I get to have all the free fountain drinks, coffee, and slurps that I want.

Cons

The job title is "Consultant"; it should be "District Manager". The perception Dallas gives is the only good ideas are those that originate from them; and that the key to success for EVERY store is based on how each store executes Dallas's plans. Business Consultants are expected to complete checklists, and spend the majority of their time completing tasks. This leaves little time for working with a franchisee on problems/opportunities unique to his store (in other words, Retailer Initiative is talked about, but don't dare attempt to put it into practice). By the way, this situation doesn't only impact the Business Consultants, it leaves the Franchisees feeling more like Corporate Store Managers than business owners.
