Pros

Being able to take expired food home.

Cons

At my location we only get paid for the hours were scheduled. So if I wrk any extra time to count my till or fix the coffees I don't get paid for it. It's a franchised location I recommend that if you work at a 7-11 don't work at a franchised location. Work schedules are made last minute so you can never make any plans for the upcoming week. They expect alot of work for minimal pay. Youre by yourself alot and do not get any lunches or breaks.

Pros

For being retail, we work typical 8-4 work days, easy to get time off for family issues, enjoy working with fellow DMs

Cons

Upper management doesn't care about what you're really doing, just how can you make their numbers look good. Even if that means that the store is dirty and sales are down, as long as you can increase sales in whatever the current focus catagory is and report a high cleaniless score on your report. Also, taking pictures and adding "fuzz" numbers for your boss so he can forward it up to his boss goes a long way, but real work goes unnoticed. Corporate is always trying to "sell us" on products and ideas that we know are not going to work. Most new items that hype up end up failing (90%) and as soon as something doesn't work, they move on to the next item and force you to sell that to the stores. It seems like they're making money by selling product to the franchisees and the DMs are asked to be salesmen instead of improving the stores profitability.

Pros

I like my job I find it interesting everyday. The company has been good to me for many years due mostly to my manager. I don't have an issue telling people I work for 7-Eleven generally it is not a bad company to work for, I worked for worse.

Cons

The Senior Management expects employees to do more work, in the same amount of time as previous years and we have to go without an increase in 2 years. Also insurance goes up each year, the bonus' go down so technically I am making less each year for the last 2 years and I am considered a top performer and SME in many subjects. There are too many inititives that is started, millions spent and then canceled or just too many and the same folks are on all projects. Then the co. expects over 100% on all projects, you are in meetings all day then expect to complete all the work in the meetings. There are too many senior management that have no idea what their department works on and how, and they are willing to "downsize" good employees that try to explain why a project won't work. The company is very political and you really need to be a man to get anywhere in senior management.
