Pros

Benefits ok Proven business model Fast paced environment Get to learn many different facets of a business Customers are loyal Job is good If you can make it here you can make it anywhere in convenience retail

Cons

-Low pay- Associates have a lot of responsibility for the amount they are getting paid. -Not enough appreciation- Associates are rarely appreciated by upper management. -Expecations are ridiculous-You can have a bad day and if uppermanagement comes in they will rip you a new one. -Leadership is crucial component that gets lossed from top managment to front-line staff -Serveant leadership model is good, but not practiced amongst upper management. -Managers are on call 24/7 -Good ol boy network is definately in affect -its not about what you have done...its about what you are going to do for me today and tommorow -Management trainee program has become a joke

Pros

Steady job, if you get a good franchisee they will work around your schedule for school, customers are great. The organization does have some competent employees but not many.

Cons

There is no room for growth, I have worked at 7-Eleven for many years while paying for college. I graduated from college and applied for a corporate position within 7-Eleven and was told I do not meet the qualifications..lol. I went from sales associate to store manager and have been with the company for more than 10 years and then graduated with a business degree from a university with a great reputation. Then I applied with the corporate side of 7-Eleven and was told I am not qualified. I have more experience than the Field consultants they send in to tell me " what the new items packet contains". It is sad that they will hire from outside the organization but will not promote from within from a franchisee to a corporate position....especially when you are more than qualified for the position.
