Pros

Working with the store managers and Franchise Owners that are engaged in their business is great. You are able to directly influence behavior changes in the stores that drive sustained sales increases and improve their operation which is extremely rewarding. There are some great individuals there that really do care. They are just out numbered.

Cons

District are designed to have 8 stores to a group. I usually had 12, at one point had as many as 14 stores. It is extremely difficult to be effective with that many. Groups are constantly being reassigned and re-structured. Upper management is not engaged in what really happens at the store level. It is about taking care of political allies. If they like you, you are safe regards less of results. If they do not like you, your days are numbered. They talk "Servant Leadership' but do not practice it.

Pros

Company has great schematics and sales plans. The future planned upgrades to the system, should make some things easier and make store level more efficient.

Cons

Benefits are very expensive. Leadership is a dictatorship Work-life balance can't be achieved, they can't stop filling the funnel with things to do. No appreciation for anything you do.

Pros

Store level employees that are hungry for leadership. POS system that is second to none in the c-store industry. Informative Operational Management Training.

Cons

Extremely poor leadership in some markets. Management that thrives on fear and threats to motivate employees. Employees afraid to speak out in fear of retribution. Company defines insanity by doing things the same way expecting a different result. "No" work life balance. Micro management gone wild. Change resistant management - too many lifers. Servant Leadership Initiative a joke. Outdated and run down stores. Franchise agreement leaves franchisees with nothing but massive debt and a story.
