Pros

You have less issues if you become friends with management. Also, you will get the bonuses that you were promised.

Cons

Communication is causing delays in all departments due to cheap labor. The labor force cannot communicate in English and has caused issues from Supply Chain to Quality Control. The bonus system is not true and have ruined the vibe for many long term employees.

Pros

-Opportunities to make more than your base pay. -Potential promotions in future. -Learn new things about the industry everyday.

Cons

-Top brass and the company as a whole is not tolerant of how people choose to express themselves physically, i.e. MANDATORY SHAVING, NO LONG HAIR. -Hours are ridiculously long. -They lie about the hours you’re scheduled. -Expect you to know everything out the gate with basically no formal training. -Forces you to participate in “Lumber Camp”, which may I add they FORCE YOU to drive if you’re less than 500 miles away from 84, PA. AND you can’t stay at a hotel, you’re FORCED to dorm with random people which in this day and age is just too sketchy. -Esoteric POS systems that use Telnet instead of a front end webpage LOL.

Pros

84 Lumber is good at making talented employees, they don't let the Trainees goof off and you'll end up a decent salesman, you will learn a TON. About lumber and construction, you'll likely learn using a forklift, there are a lot of jobs where you don't grow, and this Company is not that, they train great.

Cons

1. 10-12 hour shifts- to this day, an 8-hour shift feels short to me 2. Heavy lifting and racking planks of wood 20 feet long is a daily occurrence. 3. Place of work has no heat, at least not our area, the salesmen and managers enjoyed a 70F office while we had a 40F workplace 10 feet away from them, accommodations could have easily been made, but we didn't even have a 50$ space heater for the whole winter. 4. MANDATORY overtime, 48 hours a week is expected, period. 5. You have PTO, but they are very ridiculous with how you use it. 6. At 16$ you are paid like a Walmart employee but you are put to work like a construction worker. The only thing that supplements this is the overtime. 7. The only hope to make a career here is to score in sales (no commission), But people will keep you away from the counter and away from the phones doing the grunt work of keeping a store together. 8. The Management here is horrifying, 2 of my 4 managers were severely obese white-collar workers who could not understand why we couldn't keep more than two MTs (a store should have 3-4). They would talk badly behind your back and lecture when they don't do a lick of the actual labor.
