Pros

Almost all promotions come from within the company which creates tremendous advancement potential. Incentive based system rewards performance. Team atmosphere at store level and at headquarters. Good pay and excellent benefits. Strongest training program in the industry.

Cons

Some policies and technology fell behind the times for a few years (partially economy inflicted) but this has been steadily improving recently and continues to do so.

Pros

Freedom, backed by a multi million dollar company! This is not necessarily a pro or con. With 84 Lumber we are hard on each other, we work hard but when we play we play hard! Our clientele are not exactly polished and refined. Be aggressive and confident! 84 Lumber teaches you to pull yourself up to succeed!

Cons

It's very challenging when you are a new salesman in an area with established seasoned salesmen that have many of the professional builders already taken.

Pros

They allow you to gain experience by learning from first hand experience. They allow you the freedom to make decisions that no other company would let their entry level employees make. They still manage to protect their employees from any back lash and have a system in place to prevent most bad decisions from getting executed. There is the possibility of pulling in over a million dollars a year with this company if you have what it takes to be successful. You have to put time and work in first. It will not happen quickly.

Cons

extremely physically demanding, long hours and non-competitive compensation for entry level employees. Normally not even living wage compensation. They exaggerated about how much The average person in my position could make a year. It will certainly not be 34,000$ my first year. Also the POS system and the system in place for doing basically anything you can do at work is 25 years old. They need a user friendly system to stay competitive. Not the same system I used to play the original Oregon trail on with a B floppy drive.
