Pros

All promotions come from within the company. Great training programs in place for new employees. Performance based promotion and bonus structure drives employees to work hard. Weekly overtime is guaranteed for several positions.

Cons

Possible exposure to harsh weather conditions. Stores would benefit from computer system being updated.

Pros

84 Lumber has a top notch training program for anyone new to, and experienced with, the building industry. A competitive salary with a fair bonus structure. The autonomy given to managers to run their store to fit the particular market is a big plus. The team atmosphere makes it a fun and rewarding place to work, and the physical nature of the job will always have you feeling great at the end of the day.

Cons

If you lack drive it will be difficult to get promoted. Math skills are a big plus.

Pros

Solid pay. Good work environment. Professional yet gritty. Everyone has responsibilities which are absolutely integral to the business's success. Rewarding.

Cons

Some days can be brutal, especially in the the hot summer months or the cold winter months. I was fortunate enough to work at a store where everyone was aware of their surroundings and safe, however, if you or others aren't paying attention someone could be seriously injured.
