Pros

I actually received pretty good training from my co workers and manager. However, there were many days when I would be left at the front and no one was around to help me. I had to learn a lot from experience and being "thrown to the wolves."

Cons

The workplace was mess. I'm a woman, so I expect at least a clean woman's bathroom. Nope....disgusting and one of the female yard workers smoked while she went to the bathroom. I ended up cleaning that entire store because of how embarrassing it was. The "break area" had old food, spit tunes, crap everywhere. I worked my butt off cleaning and trying to learn my job to the best of my ability. I showed initiative to learn how to read blueprints, yet no one wanted to help me. It seems like everyone wanted to do the bare minimum. I was driving 45 minutes to work everyday and was questioning if I wanted to stay working there. I was very honest with my manager and when I suggested being transferred to a different 84 Lumber, he became very angry with me. I wrote a letter and never went back because I felt uncomfortable. I'm glad that I quit. I learned a lot And caught on quickly, but you are on your feet all day. Manager trainees are not aloud to sit unless on break. My feet and back hurt every day.

Pros

Learned a lot when I first started about building material. Compensation was ok. Met some good people made lifelong friends

Cons

.I will start with 20 cents a mile, with what is expected from salespeople and gas over 3.50 a gallon that was insulting, the training is non existent, no leadership from area manager if you are a drinking buddy with then you really have no worries,
