Pros

The guys I personally worked with at the Somerset, PA (since closed) were cool, and I did learn quite a bit about the field through training's that have helped me maintaining my own home...that.....that's about it.

Cons

(To preface: The store I worked at has since been closed, but all the below topics are company wide for your reference) Where to start 1. ZERO work / life relationship. You work a minimum 48 hours a week for w whopping 9 dollars and some change an hour. Don't get paid for lunch, so at minimum you're physically at work 51 hours per week. Kiss your wife and kids good bye on Monday morning, because you won't see them util Sunday. 2. Pay is horrible. As stated above 9 bucks an hour. 3. Company is VERY cheap. No heat or A/C. NONE. Only have 3 paid holidays off per year (Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years Day....that is if Christmas and New Years Day falls on a week day, if not....sorry about your luck) 4. Must put company bumper sticker on car for "grass roots" advertising. I refused and caught quite a bit of flack for it from my Co-Manager. Granted ever time our Area Manager came (announced most of the time) I (and another employee) would run out and slap a sticker on our bumper so we didn't get sent home / wrote up. They aren't helping you pay for the vehicle, they can't tell you what MUST go on it. 5. Must be clean shaven. Even if your beard is trimmed and kept up with. I guess they reverted to the 40's. 6. OUT DATED computer system. Words can not explain how poor this was / cheap the company is to not upgrade 7. Good Ole Boys club big time. If you aren't in the clique, forget about being noticed, no matter how hard you work this is just off the top of my head, and the biggest ones that come to mind, I'm sure if I sat and thought this out there would be MUCH more.

Pros

Pay was pretty good as a new and growing location and so long as you hit your budget numbers corporate leaves you alone.

Cons

Cult like atmosphere (Praise be to Joe & Maggie) Corporate tries to use same operational procedures in every market or region without realizing you can not operate the same in Alabama as you do in New York. Long hours and corporate micro-management that are clueless regarding local market conditions

Pros

84 HQ is home to many talented and skilled individuals. It’s a great place for employees to start their careers, though some leave due to factors like pay, culture, growth opportunities, or job requirements. Despite these challenges, the teams at the base level work well together, and the company itself is very stable.

Cons

The culture at 84 HQ, especially at the professional level, can be quite toxic. There have been troubling comments from high-level executives and issues with HR handling complaints and compliance. Changes or concerns are often overlooked to maintain internal harmony. Management practices vary, with concerns about the effectiveness of those promoted into roles without relevant experience. Additionally, as a privately held company, 84 operates with a sense of impunity, which could lead to significant long-term issues if scrutinized by federal organizations. The company operates on a "what have you done for me lately" approach, prioritizing reciprocity based on meeting their immediate needs and expectations.
