Pros

Decent pay in mid 60s for operations supervisor. Does force you to either learn to manage well or you'll flush out quickly.

Cons

Terrible hours. Held accountable for things outside your control. Paid once a month. Those folks at home? Oh yeah, that's your family you never see.

Pros

Overall a good company. Upper management is extremely competent with an average of 30+ years of company experience at the corporate level. The work itself is challenging but definitely not for everyone; high stress and constant change. You have to be a glutton for punishment to work here. However, the difficulty of the job makes it worth while.

Cons

If you aren't able to produce results this isn't a job for you. Upper management will constantly hound you until you are able to be above goal. Then, after you meet them consistently the goals will be changed so they're back out of reach. It has taken a large effort on my part to be successful in managing my family and work life.

Pros

Great pay when and if you can work.

Cons

Getting laid off all the time! When you come back to work you have to work eight weeks before insurance kicks in and then you get laid off again!!! This has been going on for three years. I am a professional driver. I have a family and a rather large mortgage. I have worked two days in the past two weeks. I am sitting by the phone waiting for a load all the time. I have been there for ABF when they called but where are they now? I am sure another lay off is in the works. Who can live like this? Why did you hire me for a full time job if you are going to treat me like a casual/temp employee. I feel used and very dissatisfied with ABF at this time. Where is the turn around Mr. Davidson has talked about? Where is the overnight freight? Where is my life???
