I have three decades of experience in this field and I have never felt as awful as I feel every day that I spend working here. That feeling started at less than one month in. Everyone who works here wants to leave and we are all trying to, but because everyone is trying to leave at the same time, the competition for new jobs is fierce. At least 5 very solid employees quit in the past two weeks. Everything here is chaos. Many of the upper level individuals have never done anything except work at this firm or an acquired firm. They have zero clue about what it's like to actually be in the field, and how good, respectable companies function. The highest-level management has absolutely no idea what is important to employees (or they just completely don't care). On monthly all-employee meetings, they highlight things that make us upset, and say those things are great.
All they care about here is sales. They keep selling and pushing and singing the praises of only sales...and never give even a simple 'thank you' to the people who have to deliver on the things that sales promises. We are severely under-staffed on the consulting side because people keep leaving but they won't stop selling even though we don't even have the capacity to service the current clients. Consultants have about 50% more clients than we should and service is suffering because the workload is completely unmanageable by even the most efficient consultant - even if you work 15 hours a day. We are burned out and everything is thrown on the already-overworked consultants.
There is no communication between departments and figuring out how to deal with all the internal disorganization eats up several hours a week. This place is completely stress-inducing, but they keep acquiring more and more firms and adding more chaos to the mix.
