Pros

Some individuals I worked with at ACC were very good natured people that had been there for a few years, but were thinking of leaving due to the new changes from hiring unqualified upper management who intentionally create a hazardous work environment.

Cons

Where to start ... as a Senior Business Systems Analyst within the IT department at ACC we had a team of 7 people, within 3 months, 6 of them are gone and the last person may be on her way out. The main problem is the IT upper management had started and stopped our project at least 3 times in three months and threatened to shut it down and get rid of everyone. The constant threat of loosing our jobs because senior management did not have an IT background and had very little experience managing teams (one was a former Secretary at a law firm) would create unecessary stress on our team, only for us to resolve and manage the project ourselves. ACC cannot fire their employees and had even mentioned that previous employees who violated sexual abuse alegations, and discrimination charges were allowed to stay without any reprimand since they have to commit a crime to be fired. HR and management tolerance to employee bad behavior is very noticable in which I have seen senior management scream at employees in meetings and nothing would ever happen. Because ACC does not fire their employees (even the bad ones and the ones that are uneducated and not a good fit for a new role they have been thrust into), ACC constantly hires consultants to perform the duties for their employees who are inept. This creates a very negative environment to be in, especially within the IT department, since the skills are very technical. Other departments such as Payroll are pretty laid back, the environment is low-key, people do very little work and sit at their same desk for twenty years without doing much of anything different.

Pros

Many of the employees at ACC truly care about the college and helping the students

Cons

Several upper management changes made working at ACC almost miserable. Used to be a much better place to work before all the changes and there seems to be a big disconnect between those at the top and their employees.

Pros

Benefits & Retirement, Time Off.

Cons

Culture thick with Nepotism. Workplace full of bullying. No action from HR when formal grievances are filed. No workplace consistency or procedures working in Enrollment and Advising. Top heavy salary culture, low salary for staff actually working the positions. No management accountability. Difficult workplace atmosphere. Hiring committees don't even matter -- when a hiring committee makes a decision as a unit, it can be trumped by the hiring manager for political/personal gain. Therefore, what is the purpose of a hiring committee?
