Pros

AFL Global Telecommunications LLC company itself and other business areas except IT offers great competitive pay and flexible work arrangements.

Cons

The IT business intelligence department suffers from serious leadership challenges that undermine the employee experience. While the company promotes remote and hybrid flexibility, the reality is far more demanding. Staff are expected to remain actively engaged for 10 to 15 hours a day, with constant monitoring of phones and emails. Round-the-clock availability—including holidays and weekends—is often required, regardless of whether your role is officially designated as support. The department culture is marked by favoritism and inconsistent standards. Staffs face excessive workloads, unrealistic expectations, and micromanagement. Tasks are often misaligned with experience levels, and feedback tends to be critical rather than constructive. Staff are held to shifting and unclear standards. Policies and expectations change frequently, creating confusion and instability. If you're an experienced professional seeking respect, clarity, and meaningful work, this environment may not be the right fit. AFL as a company may have strengths, but the dysfunction within this department can significantly impact morale and long-term career satisfaction.

Pros

AFL is very invested in the local community, donates to various good causes in the area, and encourages employees to volunteer by giving a day of PTO a year for that purpose. Many of the employees have had long tenures at the company and this gives the general company culture a friendly feeling. The tuition assistance benefit allows many employees to pursue MBA degrees or other professional development. The company is growing. The company has an on-site nurse practitioner where visits are free. The benefits team is extremely helpful. The company culture embraces work life balance and discourages practices like calling people in the middle of the night.

Cons

Engineering salaries at AFL are below industry standard in the area. Meaningful raises don’t happen without a title change. Title changes tend to take 6 months to a year. Adding salaried positions to any team takes 6 months to a year as it requires approval from the highest levels of the company.
