Pros

- FSMs in Calgary care. They are stuck in "The Machine" just like the Unit Based Employees they manage - Excellent safety gear. This was never an issue - Gets your foot in the door for Telco/Low Voltage so you can take your skillset somewhere you are valued, and given raises annually. Not the other way around

Cons

- Consistent reductions in pay scale AND increased scope of work for piece work making it hard to keep care of your family financially. If you were to project trends, in twenty years you would be paying them to go to work - Upper management pay scale decisions has ruined a good employer and destroyed morale - Team meetings went from being positive to leaving employees feeling discouraged and looking for better opportunities - Training program is not what it was back in 2010

Pros

Generally you are left to operate on your own but provided with (some of) the tools and equipment needed. Vehicle, phone, laptop, drill, etc are provided while dispensible items such as drill bits are not. Benefits for full time employees.

Cons

Similar work is better compensated elsewhere. The company is constantly looking for loopholes they can use to take money out of employees pockets and back into theirs. They expect vacation requests at minimum six months in advance and yet will not hesitate to move you across the province with less than an hours notice. I've seen management screaming at employees completely unwarranted. The lack of respect between management and technicians within the company is a huge issue. Common for moral issues with employees.
