Pros

Righteous Rebels Impressive Mission & Mission Driven Compassionate Open Diverse Culture All Inclusive

Cons

Too much focus on global growth, not enough attention to domestic organization roadblocks or staffing needs. If we ignore domestic challenges we will not be able to continue global growth.

Pros

If you want a job where you feel like your everyday mundane tasks make a huge difference for your clients as well as the world, then this is the place to work. Staff at all levels are very passionate about providing care, ending stigma, and ending the HIV epidemic. The CEO is a visionary and a dogged advocate for the mission. Though a non-profit, AHF has a very lucrative social enterprise in its pharmacies and thus is a very stable employer and avoids mission drift. It is not grant dependent and so staff can count on keeping their focus and keeping their jobs. They are growing rapidly so there is plenty of opportunity for career growth for the most qualified and resilient.

Cons

This organization has grown rapidly in the last 10 years and has not had the foresight to implement standardized operating procedures. The training is deplorable. They recruit entry level staff for the cost savings but expect them to be “nimble” and perform tasks that are realistically only found in personnel with more experience and/or education. They dont adequately staff their operations and so employees get burned out and overwhelmed quickly. And with no raise structure and sub-par salaries, recruitment and retention of qualified staff is challenging. There is plenty of money to alleviate this problem, but it’s not invested in the healthcare centers that provide the primary care of its patients.
