      Overall good but some contradictions

      Pros

      I love my coworkers- they make coming to work fun and rewarding every day. AHF pays for trainings and education. It pays better than smaller, underfunded nonprofits. You know the work you do is helping save and improve lives. Everything is mission-driven and AHF can actually deliver on the mission. They gave many employees a 500 emergency bonus during COVID and promised not to lay anyone off. My manager is extremely kind and takes care of any issues I may have. My manager is understanding and supportive if personal/health issues come up.

      Cons

      There are times that the external values of AHF don't fit the internal ones, even sometimes in ways that feel hypocritical. The pay may be better than most nonprofits but its not great, especially if you live in an expensive city. When I worked at other nonprofits in the past, I couldn't hold low pay against them because they simply didn't have the resources. However, AHF has the money but chooses not to use that on its staff. There are some big egos and a fair amount of favoritism. Managers pressure employees to donate to political campaigns that AHF is working on and to write glassdoor reviews.

      Mentally Draining

      Pros

      I had the opportunity to truly see the impact I was making. It was rewarding to truly impact clients and their retention in care.

      Cons

      The pay is low and a lot of driving is involved. There's a lot you have to do and you may not receive a lot of helpful guidance. When I asked for help I was seen as incapable of doing the job. Additionally, you will be on call regularly therefore having a supportive boss and team truly is helpful.

      Pros

      Meaningful work. Work and Life Balance. Multicultural Environment.

      Cons

      If you do not work for the team in USA you may not have benefits at all such as health insurance. Most of the bosses are hand picked amongst friends and do not have the expertise or the knowledge to guide you in your work. You will not be trained at all and the tools for your job wont be provided unless you ask for them. If you are foreign and expect to grow so much to make it to the headquarters you can forget about it, the Policy is they do not hire internationals in american ground. If you feel like giving some honest feedback that isn't positive keep it to yourself they do not know how to take it and they don't believe some areas need to improve. Just say everything is perfect!
