Micro-management in Finance dept.

Cons

-Finance department creates it's own rigid rules "based on business needs" -Old school Micro-management style -Little opportunity for development. Often overlook own employees and hire from outside organization -Talent tends to leave -Outdated technology -High volume work with lean teams resulting in employees being overwhelmed with work or burnout

It’s great to see that you enjoyed so many of our perks during your tenure with us– from our culture, wellness offerings, flexible work environment and our collaborative office space. We take great pride in these elements of our workplace. AIR MILES strives for a culture of collaboration, transparency, and trust. I am sorry to hear this was not your experience. We have implemented tools, resources, and measurements such as our semi-annual Leadership Effectiveness Survey to better understand our areas of opportunities with respect to culture and leadership. We turn feedback from these surveys into action plans to improve the Associate experience. Work-life balance is top of mind for our Associates, and we do our best to offer as much balance as possible through our Summer Hours Program, Summer Fun Days, paid vacation time, Wellness Days and our free Headspace offering to all Associates. We understand it can be hard to take advantage of these offerings at times, but encourage our Associates to work with their Leader to ensure work-life balance is a top priority. Finally, we continue to prioritize internal mobility as an organization by proactively sharing available opportunities with Associates before we recruit externally. In 2021, almost half of our job vacancies were filled by internal transfers and promotions. We’ve also launched a new career-leveling framework this year that provides more opportunities to grow as an individual contributor or as a people leader and provided learning and development opportunities to support career growth. Pros

I experienced good career growth opportunities; the clients I worked with were wonderful as was my core team and my direct manager

Cons

Management has struggled to communicate a clear and compelling vision for quite some time; when associates indicate they do not understand the vision, they are often met with gas lighting instead of understanding; culture is struggling with finger pointing and bullying; HR does not step in as appropriate; departments are not aligned across the organization (big challenges between Marketing, Client Services and Analytics); so many incredible associates, but without aligned leadership work does not move forward positively

We ensure to communicate our vision, strategic plan, and priorities during our monthly business reviews and to equip our Leaders with the information needed to discuss this further with their teams. We encourage a culture that is safe and inclusive and encourages collaboration, transparency, and trust. I am sorry that you experienced situations where this was not the case. One of our values is that we own our successes and our misses. I would encourage any Associate that has feedback and would like to see things done differently to speak with their Leader about it and/or a member of the HR team. In response to your feedback regarding salary, we work annually with available market data to ensure that our salary ranges remain competitive and recently launched a new framework to enable more career progression opportunities and increases in compensation. In addition to salary, we offer many other perks, rewards, and recognition to elevate the Associate experience. We are also dedicated to providing learning and development opportunities to support career growth. For example, for leaders like yourself, we have the Expedition program – it’s an 8-month program designed to build the next level capabilities of our future and current leaders. We also have a tuition reimbursement program that Associates can take advantage of to build their knowledge and develop their skills.
