Pros

You "manage" your own schedule but your hours are unpredictable throughout the year. The students are a pleasure to work with but they all seem to be under a lot of pressure and stress, especially during covid. It is a for-profit company, and they take around 70 percent of what they charge parents.

Cons

Tutors are expected to complete all tutor prep and admin in a very limited amount of time and are not paid the same rate for any admin task, which is misleading because the job advertises that it pays $35 per hour. The company is way too top-heavy with inexperienced mid-managers so tutors come and go. The business model is outdated, and it isn't a place for real growth or a living wage. If you live in the Bay Area, this is a nice lifeboat but not a good place to advance a career in education.

Pros

Tutor – Hours are based on student's schedule this is great if you close to an office near College AJ will work with you . The pay is excellent and there is detailed training for most subjects pass a test and your qualified for more subjects. Lots of useful material to work with- subjects like Math, Algebra and Chemistry will keep you busy as a Tutor – like all day Sunday! A good role for the game of AJ. Lots of paperwork and data entry. Rewarding work with students stimulating tutor dialogs.Kids that want tutoring are great !

Cons

Paperwork, no work life balance, no back up when someone is absentee from job.

Pros

Flexible schedule Good starter job Competitive pay for tutors (not for admin or leadership or department heads) Convenient office locations

Cons

Highest level of management allows sexism (those who are known for sexist behavior/comments are not punished, sometimes they’re even promoted anyways) Questionable practices (overtime/test materials/fair compensation) Leaders mostly judged by number of billable tutoring hours (even though 2/3 of the job are managing a team + client services + sales...none of which matter for raises or promotions) Large exodus of tutors + leadership recently because of poor management, unfair treatment, and limited upward mobility (company asks for “wow” factor in order for employees to move up...seems purposefully vague)
