Pros

My time at Aldis was as good as it gets for working in a grocery store. I worked as a cashier and my starting pay was $11 an hour. After working there for about 5 months, the district manager called me just to tell me that I got a $.25 raise. Mind you, I didn't do anything special to earn this. I was actually one of the slowest cashiers they had. But Aldis has a culture that supports and appreciates their employees. It just seems to be part of their business plan as a whole. If I had kept working there I know that they would have kept giving me raises and my retirement 401k (which they matched but I don't remember how much) would have kept growing. As an employee you are expected to hustle! You will build those muscles during your employment here but Aldis knows that and treats you with respect and appreciation. If you wanted to advance, manager positions are always available for $15 an hour starting and do not require a degree. The district managers I knew were very professional and nice. Aldis likes to retain their employees so if you wanted to move up even further, a district manager position requires a four year degree, not necessarily in business or management, just a degree if you are the right fit. I think they get paid $25/ hour and up.

Cons

None if you don't mind working in a grocery store.

Pros

The work is very physical so there is no need for a gym membership. It is a very fast paced position so the time seems to fly by. The compensation is above industry standards.

Cons

The store runs on a bare bones labor budget so the workload on management is very heavy. It is always a very stressful environment.

Pros

Great pay even for part time employees Wonderful benefits, if your full time

Cons

-No work life balance -heavy work load -long hours -extremely rude customers -no job safety. If you're not quick enough on the register they threaten to fire you. -managers cut corners. I injured myself on the job and none of the manager that I worked with offer to file the appropriate paper work for me. I had to talk with a fourth manager from another store about it and my district manager. The district manager then spoke with the managers at the store about filing a claim for me. however they dragged their feet about it. Not only that but one of the managers tried to use scare tactics on me so that I wouldn't go through with the paper work and see a doctor about my shoulder pain. He told me that I went to the doctors about it that they would make me stay out of work for a few months WITHOUT pay. -While training for a job I had a manager tell me that people usually leave within the first 3 months because they can't take the pressure.
