Pros

Satisfying job when dealing with customers in your region every day. If you like the freedom of field service, this has it. A lot of times you get to make your own schedule, and coordinate service for your customers. This job keeps you sharp, you learn something new every day and it will prepare you for any type of field service job. It doesn't get much harder or technical than here.

Cons

Below average base pay. Out of the three field service jobs I have had, this one was by far the most technical and hard work, the dirtiest environment, and the least amount of pay. The President of Amada America was quoted as saying no Field service engineer was worth 50k a year salary. This is absurd, FE's put in long hours of driving and labor every day, installing millions in machinery each year. Some of them have been in the field over 10 years, with no ladder to climb and no structured raises.

Pros

Receptionist job is extremely simple, Interesting, successful, rapidly growing global company, with numerous departments that make it run. The people that work here are mostly very nice and helpful. As long as you are consistent and on time, you can stay in this position for years. In fact, many of the people that have worked here for 5 to 25 + years started as receptionists or in the warehouse. They do special things for employees, and belong to Calperks, which gives awesome discounts on all sorts of things.

Cons

Boring. Reception job is a temp position without pay raise. In order to receive an increase in pay or benefits, you have to hope you get hired into another position within the company, which sometimes may not happen for years, if at all. And my LEAST FAVORITE THING: THE SIRIUS STATION THAT PLAYS THE SAME SONGS DAY AFTER DAY AFTER DAY. I'm talking songs that may not even be on the radio. Or songs by popular groups that have many hits, yet they play the same two songs at least 5 days a week.

Pros

Worked out of the Wisconsin area everyone was pretty nice and had a decent amount of communication. Yearly get together with everyone in the area paid for hotel, drinks, and food. Bill, Travis, and Luke were real ones

Cons

running you through training asap to get to customers because they need bodies and dont want to lose a machine contract. Wisconsin area has the most techs so they will pawn you off to other areas because they dont have the man power. I was told id almost never leave my area probably spent the night hours from home 50 nights my first year when i was told it wouldnt be more than 10.
