Pros

Fantastic benefits, great work schedule. We worked 12 hr shifts, with every other weekend a 3 day weekend. Starting pay is very good, and union benefits and raises mean that every six months, you're making more money.

Cons

Senior management is very discipline oriented. The union is essential here. Training is mixed - the classroom is excellent, but on the job training is very spotty - they simply don't have enough qualified trainers on the floor. You end up spending too many shifts working with people that really don't want to train you. It is not a good work environment for disabled people. If you can't deal with people in crisis, this isn't the job for you. At least 30% of calls are emergency calls, and you will deal with people that are facing life & death situations.

Pros

Opportunites to gain experience in the medical field.

Cons

Low pay for long hours. There is no time available to advance your career. The upside is there is a lot of time to study if you are taking online classes.

Pros

There are a variety of different departements to work in.

Cons

My 9 months in Customer Service have been tough, to say the least. AMR's billing practices are extremely frustrating for the CSR and for the patients. AMR is greedy and sends out bills to patients when we haven't heard from the insurance in 30 days, then precollection notices saying to pay before it defaults to collections. Then their cash department is super slow in posting payments, and we keep sending out late notices to patients when we have had a payment for 7 days.
