Pros

You get to help people. If you want to. Generally, if the crew isn’t genuinely touched by someone else’s tough situation, they can roll their eyes, say something snarky to the “patient” and leave. It’s very unfortunate. But if you genuinely like helping people in need- you can do that.

Cons

The culture of harassment, negativity, misogyny. Most people hate working here, the pay is a major issue. But it’s more than that. My orientation class was told by instructors (yes, more than one) that we should plan on getting injured at work- that it wasn’t a matter of if but a matter of when. Umm. . . No. There are currently lawsuits going on with the previous manager (recently removed) and several women who had to fight for light duty during at risk pregnancy. They were told they would have been fired if it hadn’t been against the law. Seriously. . . Management— get a handle on 2019.

Pros

Can get a lot of hours if that's what you want, may get some good experience depending on the medic you work with.

Cons

Poor management and low workplace moral, experience likely to be limited to being just a driver depending on the medic you're partnered with. Workplace hostility, minimal training by burnt out FTOs, favoritism in the workplace, malicious dispatching often times, long hours and rarely off on time. When assigned overtime, many crews are given a short time span between shifts. (Example, you work a 10 to 10 shift, get off at midnight, and expected to come in the next morning at 6 am! This is especially bad for anyone who has a long commute such as one hour). Safety is not much regarded unless it potentially puts the company at risks of lawsuits and etc.
