Despite being hired for full-time work, the company never scheduled me enough hours to count as full-time, meaning I was never eligible for benefits. My understanding is that it's possible to actually get full-time hours, but you need to work in the clinic all day (in-home assignments have shorter hours to allow for commute time). Because of how clients are assigned, I was never given that option.
Speaking of commute, I was spending 10 hours in the car every week, about 3 hours of which was reimbursed. Pulling 12-hour days (7am-7pm) while only being paid part-time was unsustainable and eventually led to my decision to leave the company.
The other factor was that I was placed in-home with two extremely violent clients I did not have the training to handle. The company only offers Right Response training once a year, so it took about four months to receive training on how to handle violent clients.
