Senior managers and directors are prime examples of bad leaders in Asia, across all functions, such as IT, and People teams. Have not met a single competent people leader in Asia in the time I was at ASM. Be prepared to get gaslit by your Managers and forced onto a PIP plan because your manager wants to put the blame on someone in their team. You will have your performance and dedication to the team questioned on a regular basis and if you do not fake it, you are seen as "not a team player". Compared with our competitors, there is so many deficiencies in our ways of working ( everything is bureaucratic, old school and manual ), and our culture is just highly toxic. Good performers in Singapore are asked to leave or forced on a PIP.
If you are a top performer in your current co, don't ever join ASM, unless you want to end your career prematurely. Think twice before taking any offers- the bad reviews are all true.
