Pros

got front-row seats to the Asia Senior Leadership Circus — an ensemble of Senior Managers and Directors whose management style can best be described as ‘toxic, but make myself look good'

Cons

If you enjoy being blamed for issues you didn’t cause, cleaning up leadership fires you didn’t start, and watching executives reinvent the wheel every quarter (only to declare it a ‘strategic breakthrough’), this is the perfect place for you. The culture? Imagine trying to build psychological safety while leadership treats transparency like a confidential hobby. HR is expected to fix everything but empowered to change absolutely nothing. It’s character-building, I suppose — in the same way surviving a storm on a flimsy raft is ‘character-building.’ If you value your mental health, professional growth, or the radical idea of respectful leadership… please, for your own wellbeing, consider other options.

Pros

We have a job at the moment in this bad market

Cons

Horrible Senior Managers and Directors at Asia level. Tons of backstabbing of direct reports and lots of throwing each other under the bus. Performance reviews are all subjective and managers do not have your back in Asia. Don’t join unless you are out of job and even then reconsider

Thank you for your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience with management was difficult and we take that very seriously. Our leaders, at all levels, play a critical role in our culture, and we’re taking steps to reinforce accountability, leadership training, and support systems to prevent poor behaviour and better support our teams. Your feedback helps us continue to address these issues and evolve for the better.

Pros

We have a job in this bad market. Industry is growing rapidly in today's world

Cons

Senior managers and directors are prime examples of bad leaders in Asia, across all functions, such as IT, and People teams. Have not met a single competent people leader in Asia in the time I was at ASM. Be prepared to get gaslit by your Managers and forced onto a PIP plan because your manager wants to put the blame on someone in their team. You will have your performance and dedication to the team questioned on a regular basis and if you do not fake it, you are seen as "not a team player". Compared with our competitors, there is so many deficiencies in our ways of working ( everything is bureaucratic, old school and manual ), and our culture is just highly toxic. Good performers in Singapore are asked to leave or forced on a PIP. If you are a top performer in your current co, don't ever join ASM, unless you want to end your career prematurely. Think twice before taking any offers- the bad reviews are all true. Employee morale is getting lower, and no one trusts the C suite any longer
