Pros

I have met many talented colleagues across regions at the working level. such people are genuinely here to learn and contribute, but they have been increasingly hard to find these days in Asia.

Cons

After the C-suite leadership change, culture has deteriorated significantly. New leadership relies on fear-based management rather than empowerment or trust. Singapore site leaders and HR follow this same top-down, unsupportive style, where they would rather not question but accept the word of upper management as the law. Employee well-being and psychological safety are not priorities and this makes us feel unsupported We now have a culture that discourages speaking up or challenging poor decisions from our Managers ( speaking from Asia/ Singapore perspective). Morale is collapsing, good people are leaving, and those who stay feel silenced and undervalued, and Innovation and Collaboration are suffering under this hostile culture. We have lost our way with the new leadership. Think twice before joining the Singapore Office . Unless you’re prepared to work in fear, with weak leaders and no real support, this is not the place for you.

We appreciate your honesty. We understand that team dynamics and local leadership make all the difference in an employee’s experience. At ASM, we’re reinforcing our leadership expectations and providing more targeted support and training to ensure our leaders/managers are enabling, not limiting, their teams. Feedback like yours is critical to building a culture where every leader is held accountable to our values.

Low morale in Singapore office

Pros

I guess we are still hiring should be a positive in todays environment

Cons

Current culture that is supported by the HR team and leadership team is toxic. Impacts employee morale and productivity negatively. Can safely say colleagues in my team are highly demotivated while all of us are looking for external opportunities to come our way. There is also a heightened lack of trust due to poor comms, which weakens the trust we have in the CSuite and also the overall vibe in the office in Singapore. Performance management is a joke in ASM. As long as your manager likes you, your job is safe. If you dare to challenge your manager, be prepared for HR disciplinary action to follow shortly after. They keep those they like over the top performers as long as they are “yes” men. Can safely say if ASM were to survey employees, there will be a high proportion who are burnt out and worn down by working here.

Pros

Can’t think of any pros

Cons

Change company processes as and when management likes, without providing any training to employees. Mass layoffs and changes to performance review criteria’s just 1 quarter before closing.
