Pros

I have been working at the A for about 9 years and have seen the organization grow and evolve over the years. I enjoy the intense work environment, both on the research and marketing side (which is where my professional role lies) but also on the animal care side through my experiences as a staff member who has been deployed to several natural disasters as well as large-scale criminal seizures and adoption events. I appreciate the organization’s focused mission – to protect animals most at-risk – and the fact that the A sets a priority on developing and supporting its staff. The work culture at the A is inspiring, fast-paced and challenging- all important qualities in an effective non-profit and I feel lucky to have the opportunity to contribute in the small way that I can.

Cons

Occasional work/like balance issues but I also acknowledge and appreciate the sense of urgency that the organization has embedded in its culture.

Pros

If you love and have a passion for animals then this is the job for you. The staff are hard working and dedicated to great animal care. It is incredibly rewarding to see so many animals get adopted to new great homes.

Cons

Unfortunately this company needs to try and learn how to value the good workers who are dedicated and loyal to the company and the cause of animal welfare. It seems like the workers who are only there to get a pay check and don't put in the time and effort but rather give just enough to get by last.

Pros

Incredible place to work and contribute to such an important cause. The ASPCA has always been kind and compassionate to both animals and its employees, but with new leadership, the organization has reconnected with its mission and doubled the pace of good work. Leadership works 24&7, is dedicated to finding new ways and new programs that will end animal suffering and save lives. With the growth of new programs in NYC and around the country, there is more and more opportunity for staff to grow in their careers, learn, be inspired and make a difference. Whether it is on a rescue deployment or an adoption effort, people at the A love their work. It is so much more than a job! Staff and management work really hard, but they are also considerate of work-life balance.

Cons

midtown office is in a pretty transient neighborhood
