Pros

The job itself was fulfilling and I loved the fact that it was a no kill shelter. Lots of animals are adopted from the shelter.

Cons

Staff needs sensitivity training. Managers allow homophobic and sexist remarks to continue to the point where people are quitting.

Pros

Great location. Good cause. Not great but relatively decent pay. Good brand recognition. Provides grants to up and coming animal protection startups.

Cons

Management is persnickety about timeliness, hierarchy, and communication. The organization strives too hard to mimic the political savvyness, visibility, and fundraising appeal of its main competitor, the HSUS. In the process it looks antiquated and frumpy and risks becoming irrelevant. And the end result is an inferiority complex. Its new CEO is a great manager but a lackluster leader.
