Pros

If you enjoy annual layoffs, then this is your place. If you like to pretend to be technical, but have no skills, then you are a match! If you want to have a second job, were not much is required, then AT&T is a perfect match!

Cons

Zero technical capability, which is why the stock price is so low given its revenue. AT&T pretends to be technical by stitching together other company's products. Most of the very good technical stitching people have been outsourced. or terminated. Layoffs aren't based on performance but by location. Stankey said in multiple town hall meetings, "AT&T doesn't need all these old people." "We need younger people with new ideas." "AT&T doesn't need people who know hoow to use abacuses". His latest attempt to clarify was something to the effect, "We need people with relevant skills." "A person with 40 years of work experience may have lots of skills, but are they relevant? And a person with only 5 years of experience may have more relevant experience." That's some coaching, but getting rid of people who know how to use abacuses is the greatest line a soon to be former CEO ever spoke. Twice during my tenure, AT&T could not account for $4B dollars. They knew it was spent, they just didn't know what it was spent on. AT&T gave ALEC $25M per year for ~20 years! Now, they have a diversity VP and some training classes. Not sure this will undo the damage ALEC has created in the US and around the world.

Pros

Good benefits, good PTO and not much else.

Cons

You are a number on a spreadsheet. Upper management doesn't value anyone and blames all shortcomings on the people at the bottom of the totem pole.

Pros

Depending on the org, the culture can be wonderful. My current team has a great culture. Successes are celebrated, we have fun networking events, and our leadership finds many ways to show that we are appreciated. There’s diversity of thoughts, diversity of people, and diversity in roles.

Cons

Some orgs are very toxic right now as a result of surplus and optional (forced) relocations. Leadership are surplussing, and reorgs lead to quiet firing. Retail stores and business sales roles might be better, but for corporate and marketing, unless you want to work in Dallas or Atlanta you might as well forget working here.
