Pros

Pay - is ok. Job - is fun. Benifits are ok. Depending on the location, there is money to be made on commission, but for the most locations the job has become a 85% customer service.

Cons

Job security is 100% based on sale, yet 85% of our job is customer service. AT&T has a something called RSSM. As it is explained to me, the bottom 5% of a market area is place on RSSM for failure to meet sales quota. I in my oppion this is nothing more than a headcount management tool. Allows AT&T to quickly adjust head count based on needs. AT&T has the ability to adjust its sale staff by 5% at any given time. Disciplinary action for being on RSSM is as follows: 1) Counseling - This is effective for 90 day. 2) Written Warning – A Written Warning is issued if one is on RSSM a second time with the 90 day Counseling period. A Written Warning is effective for 4 or 5 months. 3) Final Warning – A Final Warning is issued if one is on RSSM a third time within the 4 to 5 month Written Warning period. A Final Warning is effective for 5 to 6 months. Beware for the Final Warning Trick – I have seen the Final Warning Trick played a couple of times. AT&T has the associate exactly where AT&T wants the associate. An interesting anomaly occurs at this point, the associate has been basically catapulted from Counseling to a Final Warning within 3 to 4 months. Once at the Final Warning mark you will survive until or if AT&T finds it conducive to business to terminate you. You will be encouraged to stick it out by management. Beware this is a sadistic game AT&T management will play on you. I saw this happen to a consistent top seller in my store. Less than 1 week before the Final Warning rolled off the associate was fired. The Mississippi AT&T Retail stores should unionize.
