Pros

Make you employer look good and you've got a job. Do what you're told to do within the best of your ability and everything is alright.

Cons

Some positions aren't as described, they may be more or less than you're looking for. Working for the government is really the issue. There is no fault on Abacus.

Pros

Abacus Technology Corporation might POSSIBLY give you a fair salary, if you demand it initially. Time off is generally approved as needed.

Cons

The senior management of Abacus is extremely out of touch when it comes to what is and is not a realistic expectation. Job descriptions are non existent, and the organization operates using no fewer than three organizational structure charts at the same time. Expect to be charmed with optimism at the interview, but that's where the feel good stops. You will most likely be asked for your ideas on how things can be made better, and then ignored or dismissed when you make a suggestion. Contracts are underbid, communication from management to staff is strictly one way. It usually takes no fewer than two days to receive a response from Human Resources when you make a request. Senior management is generally offsite, only to visit on irregular intervals. This company provides little to no training for their staff yet expects them to be subject matter experts. Abacus senior management are masters at placing a positive spin on bad situations when reporting to their government customers. Staff members have in the past been directed to submit false time cards under the "fixed bid contract" pretense, with managememt changing their tone only when threatened with investigation. Many staff members have experienced deteriorating health, lower self esteem, and personal relationship issues as a result of the unnecessary stress caused in part by poor senior management.
