Pros
I worked at Academia for a number of years and its very interesting reading some of the negative views offered as they just sound a little bit bitter without enough substance! Some of my observations are that they are stuck in the past a bit too much in regards to the work culture despite the optimistic and ambitious growth plans. There are definitely some people hiding in their roles, and certainly some of the people should have been moved on but I suppose all businesses carry “dead wood”, but the good news is that at the core of the business there are some talented and ambitious individuals contributing to the company’s overall success. As long as the company focus on the “here and now” rather than the BHAG of £100m (albeit that’s important) and commit to the initiatives such as the Leadership and Sales Academy then this business is definitely one to watch. Overall I would recommend Academia as a positive place to work.
Cons
The offices aren’t great and the work culture is old school. Also unfortunately Enfield isn’t the best location to work and there isn’t much in the way of places to break out either in the office or in the surrounding area during lunch hours.
