Pros

Customers appreciate personalized help in finding what they need and knowing what/how to use it/them. I enjoy empowering people, especially women, to take care of their own maintenance and fix-up needs.

Cons

Schedule changes made w/o consideration of employees personal lives/appts/etc, and employees are not informed--expected to somehow find out on their own. Pay is NOT commensurate w other jobs in this field--esp after being a loyal employee for nearly 20 yrs.

Pros

Always something to do, no boring down time. I can work on a project by myself or enlist the help of others depending on my mood. The store hours are reasonable, no late evening shifts. Co workers are great people, and most customers are appreciative when we help.

Cons

Sometimes I'm the only manager on duty for up to 4 hours at a time, also the number of associates scheduled is sometimes very few, making it difficult to tend to customer's needs and finish day to day store operations. Pay raises are few and far between, the store is open most holidays but they don't pay time and a half--I've never worked anywhere that did not pay holiday pay!
