Pros

Being afforded the opportunity to cover the community I live in, write about the leaders and other actors and tell interesting stories. It's also a constant learning experience. Whether it's learning about AI, cyber-security, better ways to write or learning new things from the people I talk to out in the field, I think I qualify as a lifelong learner. Since I'm older than just about everybody I work with ("just about" might be an exaggeration) I'm always getting a fresh perspective on life from my coworkers.

Cons

I would like to see the return of the 40-hour work week (as opposed to 37.5, as we've been using since COVID. However, I understand budget constraints.

Pros

Realistically, we live in a world where there are very few organizations that still believe in the mission of doing good journalism. Adams is one of those organizations.

Cons

There is far too much focus on revenue streams that are on a multi-decade decline. The personnel resources poured into advertising (including classified advertising! in 2026!) is a really bad look for a company that wants to be serious about survival. An audience focus has to be paramount, and that is too infrequently the case in our region.

Pros

The forward thinking of ownership and management. In this continuously changing media environment it is key yo be planning 2-3 years or more down the road. AMM is doing just that.

Cons

Each individual market is different. Need less one size fits all corporate initiatives.
