I worked in SallieMae collections. Low pay for the amount of work you're expected to do and how fast you're expected to do it. They do not give you any of this paid time off, 'great' pay, opportunities to advance or vacation time that they initially used to lure you in. They are super rude and condescending when you need time off, regardless of reasoning and even if you can provide a doctor's note. The supervisors do not do their job, they refuse to answer questions most of time and refuse to take supervisor calls even when the client is demanding to talk to a supervisor - which would leave me with an even angrier customer to deal with. The majority of customers are EXTREMELY rude. You're basically just getting screamed at all day, for $8.00/hour. They don't have a nice break room or bathrooms where you could actually sit and relax. Barely any breaks, we got a 45 minute lunch and a 10 minute break for a nine hour shift. 45 minutes is NOT enough to leave work, buy lunch (unless you want to spend $7.00 for a nasty, old ham and cheese from the 'break' room), eat and return to your desk to begin working again. They also will make you feel like a prisoner or a small child. We aren't allowed to have ANY personal items at our desk without getting written up. Also, no food or drinks at your desk either. We also got screamed at if we needed to use the bathroom when it wasn't our designated break time. They also do NOT offer 'flexible' hours, I worked 10-7 every single day M-F, which gave me no time to do anything else except go home, shower and eat. I had to miss an hour of work for a doctor's appointment and was forced to come in early FIVE days to work five TWELVE (7am-7pm) shifts to 'make up time'. This job is miserable... unless you're absolutely desperate for money.. I would highly suggest something else. I wish I would have taken a job at Starbucks or Ulta because this job will SUCK THE LIFE OUT OF YOU. I don't even think I got all the 'cons' of this job on here.
