      You get to set your own schedule and tie off requests are approved with little oppposition.

      Pros

      Flexible scheduling, much free time due to lack of work, unsupervised atmosphere. If you like it hands-on, fix-it-yourself, dang the torpedoes and just-get- 'er-done-we'll-deal-with-the-supervisor-later . . .then this might be for you, but . . . see cons.

      Cons

      The feeling of being arrow-fodder in a war that was lost years ago. Watching the company waste 1000's to make 100's and at the expense of your own livelihood. Cost of benefits outstrips earning power, except at the top of the pay scale. Seriously, don't waste your time working for this company unless you think you can do something to pull it out of it's power dive into financial and legal ruin. If you're a retail merchandiser, consider the fact that ASM is happy to hire you at a rate of pay higher than your more experienced peers and will position you in such a way as to bankrupt your coworkers by your very presence. ASM likes a fat workforce of too many people for the work that they are increasingly having trouble making available and thus no one can earn even a modest living at the lowest levels of the enterprise.
