Pros

Aerotek gives a good foundation for recruiting. It teaches you how to own your business and every step of the recruitment process from beginning to end. Because of this, employers like to see people come from big companies like Aerotek. If you have the choice, I would choose another staffing firm.

Cons

I can’t say enough. The way Aerotek is run is no way to run a company. The main focus is making money for the company. You work long hours like most people have said, but are pressured to endure social events and happy hours on top of these work days almost every week. You are peer pressured and treated like an outsider if you don’t partake. Management is sneaky and unethical. My office was an HR nightmare and turnover was well over 75%. Aerotek teaches you how to have a “thick skin,” but I would recommend doing yourself a favor, and looking elsewhere for employment. A year of my life I wish I could take back.

Pros

- Professional Development - Cool Culture - Learn about recruiting and staffing

Cons

- Terrible starting pay for the amount of work you put in - Your success is 100% attributed to the account manager you are assigned to - Poor business cycle, candidates interviewing poorly, positions washing or getting lost to the competition ALWAYS comes back on the recruiter

Pros

-Base of $70k once you hit a certain commission, which is decent for a recent grad (which is most people they recruit) -Valuable work experience to land you a better job elsewhere

Cons

- Horrible work life balance. Mandatory hours from 7:30am -5:30pm, but it's actually frowned upon to leave at 5:30, so typically more like 12 hour work days, for no actual reason. -If you actually want to take the PTO you've earned, they will make you feel horrible for taking it. I requested only a week off the entire year and they made me constantly feel like I shouldn't take it, and felt bad for taking it -They don't actually value their employees. Most people get burnt out after a year. They ask you to give 110% everyday, which is unsustainable in the long term. - The business is inherently really difficult to deal with as well. You're in the business of people, who at their core are uncontrollable, and even if you try your best to control everything, you can't. Yet upper management constantly blames recruiters for everything that goes wrong, even if it couldn't have been controlled. -In order to get promoted, you just "have to do the job", with no real guidance, metrics, or support on how to do that. They promote who they like the best, and who talks the most and gets the most attention for the work they are doing. There's no actual rhyme or reason to their promotion process other than favoritism. -Don't go into this job if you want to be an actual recruiter. They only value salespeople, and people who want to be in sales. -Your activity is constantly being monitored throughout everyday, and if you don't hit certain numbers, you are shamed. Every action is logged and monitored, every single day your work there. It's an unhealthy amount of monitoring, but then again, your worth here is built upon your numbers and your spread/ commission earings. Everyone's commission is compared to everyone else every week. -Upper management constantly talks about "the good old days" and doesn't realize that the newer generation is shaping the world now. This office has had over 65% turnover in one year for a reason. Upper management is rigid in the old ways," and when given ideas to change or improve, don't listen and continue going about things the "old ways," even when they clearly aren't working anymore. -I would highly recommend not working at this company.
