Pros
The culture is a pretty good place to work, you'll meet nice people and be able to collaborate with a good group of individuals. There is potential growth/career opportunities here, starting as a recruiter then being promoted to an account manager where you'll cold call random businesses to ask them if they want to use a staffing agency.
Cons
Recruiting boot camp. You're required to make calls all day long. 80+ per day while bringing in 10 people a week for an interview with them to look at their interview skills and go over their resume to potentially place at a job, reference checks, meetings with your boss "account managers" for what job req you are recruiting on, meeting contractors for lunch etc. If you like to be on the phone all day long and have no work life balance this is a great place for you. Work starts at 7:45am and everyone in the office stays till at least 5:30 and later. Expect do to at least 50 hours a week. The pay is terrible. you'll be in a "training phase" for the first 13 weeks at $14.05/hr with an overtime rate of $21.08. You are required to work at least 48 hours a week. You'll get paid every Wednesday, the benefits are not good, premiums are very high. You can potentially make good money here but not for at least 3-4 years. If you are ok with making 80 calls a day for three years then go for it. FYI-- 85% of Aerotek recruiters nationwide are 2 years and under. What does this tell you? Major attrition, they can't keep anyone because there's just no incentive to keep pounding phones like they want you to. Since I've been working here, 7 people have left and I've only been here 6 months, and out of those 7 the longest person had only been here for 1.5 years. They're desperate for recruiters, so if you don't know what else job to take, then you mise well take this opportunity. You probably don't even have to have a bachelors for this company anymore, no matter what background you have, they'll look at you because they need all the help they can get. Your commission is based off "spread" which is how much money Aerotek makes when you place someone at a job. In order to make spread, you have to have a certain amount of people that you put to work. For example, if you put 8 mechanical engineers at jobs at $500 ea in spread that would put you at $4,000 in spread. You start making commission once you can keep it above $3,000. You get 3% of anything above $3,000-$5,000 in spread. Once you past the $5,000 mark in spread it goes to 6%. Once you are converted to a full time employee after your training, there is no more OT and you are salaried at $38,000 and when your spread is above $3,000 it only affects your pay check by like $30 a week. In summary, if you want to work at a call center cold calling people all day working 50+ hrs a week this is for you, especially if you are a recent graduate with no responsibility and nothing to do after work. I asked one account manager, "what will make me a great recruiter?" He replied "7 to 7." That's 12 hour work days. 60hrs a week. After taxes are taken out and benefits etc. your paychecks will be about $525 a week. Realistically, you can expect to make $41,000-43,000 your first year. If you're motivated to POUND THE PHONES, this is your next dream job!!!
