Pros

Decent pay and benefits. Good place to work while looking for another job, starting a business, or thinking about another career.

Cons

The work schedule and work life is very much like "Groundhog Day". Too many managers to even remotely keep track of. You have pretty much zero responsibilities outside of flying the aircraft and making sure it is clean. Do not expect to be fulfilled or inspired by your day to day activities. There is no incentive to go above and beyond the scope of your normal duties because absolutely no one above you will notice. I don't think there is much room for advancement, I've never seen any job postings that would offer such an opportunity or met a manager who has even described a way to advance despite announcing interest multiple times. It's probably very similar to how a factory worker or 1950's coal miner feels. Show up, get paid, move on.

Growth Curve is Flattening ... Tough Times Ahead?

Pros

Historically strong business model, though recently under significant pressure ... may be difficult to sustain past growth rates in today's healthcare environment. Company's core mission is personally rewarding ... transporting patients to save lives.

Cons

No. 2 leader has no significant business experience outside of Air Methods. Hat's off to him for working his way up from a math major/pilot to the No. 2 position of a billion dollar public company, but he has no business perspective other than the one he developed at Air Methods ... very weak on business and leadership fundamentals. Other than at the very top and for just a few individuals, the bonus structure is not effectively linked to company performance and is very subjective. Several Regional Vice Presidents ultimately reporting to the No. 2 leader, via one intermediate level, also have minimal leadership skills and business acumen ... again, pilots or nurses promoted to run significant parts of the business with little to no prior experience managing P&Ls, nor do they have material experience in sales leadership. In short, upper middle management is weak on business fundamentals and leadership. Management ranks are bloated ... significant opportunity for a private equity firm to cut costs and reorganize.
