Pros

I'm happy with the good salary and benefits, excellent flexibility (work/life balance), admirable leadership and solid values; glad to support front line crews who are out saving lives daily. My direct supervisor is a pleasure to work with.

Cons

The corporate office is a little tight and loud and no "perks" like you find at some other businesses.

Pros

Management at the communications center is very good- positive, accommodating as well. Crews and pilots are very friendly and professional. I enjoyed the 12-hour shifts as we got plenty of days off. Pay seemed reasonable and the benefits were good also.

Cons

Corporate culture seems really negative. Tenured dispatchers train the new ones and they frequently loose their temper, beat fists on desks, call each other inappropriate names, roll their eyes when you ask a question and get visibly and verbally angry at you when you make an error. At times, a very busy and difficult environment and you cannot depend on your co-workers for assistance. Gossip is off the charts there as well, typically very negative. Employee turnover is the worst I have seen anywhere- mostly due to the negativity and nastiness of the tenured people there who are responsible for training the new hires. You are expected to know how to run your desk the first minute of day 1 there and given the complexity of the task, that is impossible. Saddest thing of all is the employees blame management for the turnover when it is not their fault- they do everything they can to keep people but nobody wants to work in such a negative, threatening and openly hostile environment.

Pros

Came from working for a County EMS, so get a lot more down time. Learning a lot, pay is pretty good, schedule is great. Good co-workers.

Cons

Management is questionable, not sure if they are qualified. They promote from within but this means promoting nurses and paramedics a lot of whom do not have managerial experience and it shows.
