Pros

Good office location. People can be friendly. Product is great and for sure changing the way businesses bank.

Cons

Where there’s smoke there’s fire. There’s a reason why their Glassdoor score is so low. Culture is hectic at best, self-sabotaging at worst. Middle and senior managers are constantly pivoting, and performing at “meets expectations” would be “exceeded expectations” at any other company. SG offices is also 5days RTO which is weird for a tech company, even for SG. A lot of people leave before or soon after probation period, and I’d say those were the smart ones to dodge a bullet. Company will be big for sure but at what cost

Thank you for your feedback, and we appreciate you recognizing the strength of our product and the people here. We don't dismiss the themes on our Glassdoor. We read every review and use them alongside our biannual engagement surveys to identify where we need to improve. On strategic shifts: we've introduced structured planning cycles and cascaded OKRs specifically to give teams more predictability. It's a significantly different rhythm than even a year ago. On leadership: our global Elevate program and our newer Rise program are focused on developing managers and ICs who lead with clarity and consistency. On performance: we set a high bar and we're upfront about that. It's not for everyone, and that's okay. But we regularly review our frameworks to make sure expectations are fair and matched with the right support. On RTO in Singapore: workplace policies vary by region based on local team needs and business requirements, and we consistently evaluate how we work. Your closing point is a fair one. Growth at any cost is not our goal, and our people remain a top priority. We wish you well in your next chapter.

Pros

Compensation is decent. That’s genuinely the only upside.

Cons

This place was one of the most draining and disappointing professional experiences I’ve had. If you’re considering Airwallex because it looks “fast-growing” or “ambitious,” look deeper. - Marketing leadership is completely clueless. There is an insane amount of money being burned on campaigns that add absolutely nothing to brand recognition, prestige, or credibility. It’s all word-salad messaging, vague “vision,” and flashy decks that go nowhere. Big egos, little substance. Lots of talking, very little impact. - Leadership loves to posture like they know what they’re doing, but decisions feel reactive, poorly thought out, and driven by optics instead of strategy. The culture is passive-aggressive and ego-driven so as a result people protect themselves, throw others under the bus, and pretend everything is “exciting” while teams burn out. - There is no real diversity here. The lack of inclusion is obvious the moment you walk in, and there’s little effort to change that. Different perspectives aren’t encouraged. Instead, they’re ignored or shut down. - Turnover is constant. It’s a revolving door. People come in hopeful and leave exhausted. During my time there, we lost so many great colleagues, talented, thoughtful people who either resigned quickly or were pushed out because of poor management and a toxic environment. At some point it stops being a coincidence and starts being a pattern. - The hiring process itself should have been a warning sign: long, disorganized, repetitive, and frankly not worth the effort in the end. Interviews drag on forever with unclear expectations, inconsistent feedback, and zero respect for candidates’ time. Let me assure you: that chaos doesn’t magically disappear once you’re hired. It is the culture. - Work gets framed as “high performance,” but it’s really just chaos paired with unrealistic expectations and little support. There’s no culture here unless you consider toxicity, ego, and burnout a culture. Yes, the pay is okay, but it’s not dramatically better than other tech companies in the Bay Area that actually know how to build teams, brands, and sustainable growth. The money isn’t worth the mental toll or the hit to your CV from pouring your energy into something with no clear direction. If you can, run. Save your mental health, save your confidence and save your career momentum.

Thank you for your feedback. We don't take reviews like this lightly, and we want to address what you've raised honestly. On leadership and strategy: we hear you. As we've scaled, we've made real changes — structured planning cycles, cascaded OKRs, and purpose-built manager and individual contributor development programs. These aren't cosmetic. They exist because we recognized the need for more clarity and better people leadership, and we're committed to getting that right. We're continually investing in building a more inclusive environment where different perspectives are not just welcomed but expected. If we fell short of that during your time here, that's on us. We've made meaningful improvements to our hiring process, including clearer expectations, more structured interviews, and faster timelines. Retention is something we track closely and take seriously. We're proud of the rates of promotion and opportunities for our team members to grow their careers here. High performance and sustainability are not opposites. We monitor team health through biannual engagement surveys, and we hold managers accountable for building environments where people can perform at a high level without burning out. Some of what you've described reflects real challenges of a fast-scaling global company. Some of it points to experiences that shouldn't have happened. Both are worth hearing. We wish you well, and we appreciate you taking the time to share this.
