Pros

Family-centered care, decent education opportunities. The patients and their families are very appreciative of the nursing staff, even when management isn't.

Cons

The pay is low for the experience and education needed in a critical care environment, especially compared to nearby facilities. The providers have a tendency to be bullies and condescending towards the core nursing staff. The lack of input from staff for policies, especially concerning scheduling and floating. Recent implementations have restricted scheduling even further, with removal of every 3rd weekend bonus for senior nurses and choosing your own holidays. Upper management says they want to hear our opinions about these types of changes but they don't give us the opportunity to do so.

Pros

The work you put in at ACH makes you feel like you are making a difference in the children's lives and their family. Coworkers were some of the best people I have ever worked with, and most felt the same way about the job. Benefits are decent, since when you get hurt you get treated on the job. Meet a lot of people and make connections.

Cons

Pay is not competitive, not worth the work you put in at times. Unfortunately, management and administration seem to have forgotten what the company is about and run ACH like a corporation. More focused on innovation instead of quality of care and safety of staff.
