Pros

My peers are smart, professional (mostly) and believe in the mission of the company. We wait and wait for leadership to communicate a transition plan from Novartis to Alcon stand alone. This event was a long time coming - at least 12 months. So why crickets? Why a deer in the headlights?

Cons

Crickets, see above. Nobody knows what they are supposed to be doing, what their role is, nor the role of anyone else. It is amazing any company can maintain operations under these circumstances. There is no transition plan, or a current and go forward plan for any one thing.

Pros

1, The rank and file staff are fantastic. 2. Adequate perks such as discounted eye surgery and scripts. 3. Some flexibility with work hours.

Cons

1. Scope creep. You are hired for one job and wind up having to wear every hat (HR, MD, SAFETY , QA, COUNSELOR)..on and on! 2. Pay is adequate if you just want to collect and phone it in. 3. Having to accomplish your work and your bosses too. 4. The only thing that is useful to management is the "dog & pony" and not true leadership soft skills to motivate the team to go above and beyond..after all if you don't get product out you don't get paid. 5. Management hold staff to different set of standards depending on how well they"like" you. 6. No room for advancement due to senior managers place "their guy" in those positions. 7. You work yourself to death so that management can get huge bonuses and you are rewarded laughingly raise of 2% . 8. Forced ranking by management of your staff whom they don't even know.
