Pros

401k is the only reason to stick it out for 5 years. You get 100% match for every dollar. The medical and dental benefits are also outstanding. Granted this is all for the moment. The pay for around here is also top notch if you can stick around for awhile.

Cons

Wow where to begin? It seems as though ALL senior management at Alcon was picked because they're very weak and afraid. If someone makes a mistake after doing something 1000 times a day they won't stop and tell the employee. They'll purposely allow the employee to continue to make the same mistake so they can use it as a means to have you fired. This isn't the case for everyone however. If you've told your uppers how "swell" you think they are, you're still not going places...but they won't try to set you up as much. At some point Alcon (Huntington branch) decided to start punishing those that work the hardest and rewarded those that do the least. I couldn't understand it until recently when I realized the plan is this; If you're a supervisor, you let someone do ALL the work to make your quota's of lenses you're expected to do per job. That way it looks as though you're responsible for their output. However once they show that they are going to continue to grow then you do everything in your power to have them fired or suspended, just whatever it takes to drag their name through the mud. That way they can't take your job, that position is already set and when the time is right the ones that suck up and do little to no work will take that position. Because they're the easiest to manipulate by corporate at Ft.Worth. Also there was quite a large drug problem up until recently when a few employees were let go or demoted and sent somewhere else. Best way to sum up Alcon is one employee was quoted as saying "for the love of god I just want to work. I just want to sit here and do my job and make these lenses but they won't stop harassing me." and by "they" they meant upper management.

Pros

Nice campus, cafeteria. Good insurance

Cons

Horrible leadership. No respect for their workers. The people who made the company what it is, are no longer there. Expected to work 60 hour weeks. Constant lies from upper management. Wage increases have gone steadily down, while upper management create their golden parachutes for the inevitable collapse. Inflated future outlooks for investors, with a non-existing new drug pipeline. Everything future banks on buying small labs with new drugs.

Pros

Excellent vision benefits. FREE contact lenses for full time employees and $100 credit for frames if you need glasses. Excellent medical benefits with $25 copay. Free options if you need counselling for therapy. Great place to start a career. Lots of departments to choose from in order to figure out where you want to go with your career. On campus cafeteria. ice cream truck comes in the summer time. Always having on campus activities to keep comraderie. Free employee only Six Flags day in the summer.

Cons

Headquarters is not located near anything related to Dallas. If you're a contractor, you're treated like a red headed step child with some access type things and not being able to participate in all things like full time employees.
